CHCC, CORE hold mobile clinic for the north side of Saipan
More than 50 community members availed of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s free mobile health outreach clinic that was held at the Tanapag Social Hall in front of Santa Remedios Church yesterday afternoon. The clinic lasted from 1pm to 5pm.
Jeremy Sasamoto, CHCC’s operation chief for Soudelor Recovery efforts, said that a total of 55 individuals have been seen and checked as of 3pm yesterday.

He said CHCC collaborated with the Medical Reserve Corps and the Community Outreach Recovery Effort group to see that residents in the north area get checked after Soudelor.
“It’s free,” Sasamoto said. “We have immunizations, inpatient pharmacy, internal medicine for adult patients, family medicine, OB/GYN, and renal specialist for all the diabetic patients. It’s really a full spectrum of care and we are shuttling people over.”
He noted that several people were provided transportation from San Jose, Sadog Tasi, Chalan Kanoa, and other areas.
Community members were registered and triaged. After that a nurse determines the services that they needed and were directed to the appropriate doctors. More than four doctors were present.
“We had all vaccinations including the flu, but the stock for the flu is really small, so we targeted all 65 and up years of age, pregnant women, people with long-term diseases and all first responders. We had other shots such as school shots including the shingles vaccine,” Sasamoto said.
Those that were bed-bound were given transportation or were visited at their homes.
Community group CORE also reached out to more people in the northern area, from Tanapag to Marpi. Nurses also followed them to provide health checks to those that couldn’t leave home.
CORE member Mami Ikeda said this was really needed, as the volunteer organization had encountered numerous homes that had people with rashes, respiratory problems, and other health issues in the aftermath of Soudelor.
