With the Commonwealth Health Center Volunteers Association celebrating 30 years of service, the non-profit association is inviting new members to join its board of directors or help with the group’s fundraising and volunteer work.

The CHC Volunteers Association looks forward to welcoming new members and volunteers, including helping to plan and launch the biggest fundraising event leading up to its 30th anniversary this August.

A general membership meeting of the CHC Volunteers Association is scheduled for Feb. 5, 4pm at the CHC CE Conference Room.

CHC Volunteers Association has been dependent on the generosity of the community, who contributed so much to various fundraising projects over the last 29 years.

The group’s files show countless many individuals over the years have joined either as members of its board or as valuable volunteers.

Its records also confirm that the CHC Volunteers Association has raised over $2 million all from the generosity of the community and the business sector.

The majority of the raised funds have been donated to the CNMI’s lone public hospital—CHC—by way of purchasing an array of patient care equipment and supplies. About 5 percent had been donated to individuals and/or community organizations to improve and/or assist in health care services on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

CHC Volunteers Association’s signature fundraising is operating and managing the CHCVA Gift Shop, which has been kept open only through the valuable personal time of volunteers.

The gift shop is open Monday-Thursday from 8am to 4pm and Fridays from 8am to 12pm and closed during holidays and weekends.

Do you have a few hours a month to serve on the CHC Volunteers Association 11-member board of directors or volunteer at the gift shop? Please contact 236-8363 or 236-8364 for more information. (PR)
