Chargualaf wants to meet Vietnam War vets

Veteran Max Chargualaf is trying to reach out to all veterans of the Vietnam War here in the CNMI. He is asking them to call him at 285-1948 so they could arrange a date for a meeting.

Vietnam War veterans are those who served or have been deployed from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. Chargualaf said you still qualify as a veteran even though you were not deployed and just worked in a military base or in the office.

“I want to reach out to all the Vietnam War veterans here on Saipan and the CNMI. We’re going to honor them during the CNMI Liberation Day Fourth of July celebration,” said Chargualaf, who works as the Saipan Mayor’s Office’s safety officer.

“I just want to know how many are here. Gather and meet them, and get all of their names so we could submit them to the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration and they can be recognized,” added Chargualaf.

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang is a Vietnam War veteran who served for two years. He and Chargualaf joined the military in 1967.
