Josh “Chaos” Duenas will be replacing Vince “The Clinch” Masga in one of the undercard bouts in the Pacific Xtreme Combat 50 at the University of Guam Fieldhouse.

Cousins Roman “Boom” (5-0) and Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez (10-2) will also be fighting alongside Duenas (4-5) in the Dec. 4 fight event that will also feature Frank ‘The Crank” Camacho (16-3) and Guam’s Tyrone “Bones” Jones (4-4) facing off for the vacant PXC lightweight belt.

Yusuke Yachi of Japan (13-4) will be defending his PXC featherweight title against Australia’s Alex Volkanovski (10-1) in the main event.
Masga (6-1) was supposed to face New Zealand’s Kai Cara-France (10-5) in a flyweight bout, but the Saipan fighter suffered a concussion in his training camp against a Team Tiger Muay Thai member.

TrenchTech promoter Cuki Alvarez assured CNMI fight fans that Masga is okay and remains healthy.

“The doctor just advised Vince to take a rest. That’s why he will be out for three months. He’s fine, he will just have to take a break,” added Alvarez.

Masga has won his last three fights—two of which are in the PXC—since losing the bantamweight strap to Ricky Camp of Guam (5-3) in Rites of Passage 16: Unleashed last April 11, 2014.

On the other hand, Duenas, a former Trench Warz flyweight champion, was stripped of the 125-lb belt as he did not make the weight in his scheduled fight against High Blood Pressure’s Ernie Santos (2-1) of Guam in last year’s Trench Warz 18: Rock & Rumble.

This will also be Duenas’ first fight since losing via unanimous decision against Crisanto Pitpitunge (8-3) in PXC 44 also held last year in Guam.

Meanwhile, Roman Alvarez will be facing another New Zealand fighter in Mark Abelardo (11-3) of Team Quest Thailand in the bantamweight division.

Roman remains undefeated after five bouts, the last of which was against Ernie Braca after the Filipino bet was disqualified as he kicked the former on the head while already lying on the ground in PXC 48 in June this year.

“Abelardo is one of the top 125-lb fighters and this would be my nephew Roman’s toughest fight yet,” said Cuki.

Abelardo is also on a seven-fight winning streak since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Rodolfo Marques Diniz in the Australian Fighting Championship 7 on Dec. 14, 2013.

Shane, Cuki’s son, hopes to bounce back from a technical knockout loss to Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Darren Uyenoyama (10-5) in PXC 45 a year ago when he goes up against Japanese pro Kentaro Watanabe (10-7).

“Watanabe is a young and upcoming fighter from Japan. We don’t know much about him but Shane is training really hard for this fight and he wants to bounce back big against his Japanese opponent,” said the older Alvarez.

Watanabe lost his last four fights after winning five straight from April 3, 2011 to Sept. 23, 2012. His last defeat was a unanimous decision setback against fellow Japanese Yoshiro Maeda (33-15) in Vale Tudo Japan in Osaka in June of this year.
