The Saipan Little League Board Inc. election was scheduled last Friday, while the 2015 Triple A Youth Baseball League and the first of the four-leg All Schools Cross Country race were also cancelled by their respective organizers for safety of the athletes.
SLL members, managers, and coaches who participated last season, and parents, and other volunteers were set to elect a new set of officers for 2016.
The new officers will plan the upcoming 2016 season of the Saipan Little League—Majors, Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions.
The Northern Marianas Athletics has set last Saturday as the first leg of the Cross Country race at the Commonwealth Ports Authority Airport Field.
NMA pushed back their schedule with the first race set next week on Oct. 24. The succeeding legs will be on Oct. 31, and Nov. 7 and 14 all at 4pm at the CPA Field.
The Division of Youth Services-funded Summer/Fall Season Triple A Youth Baseball Under-18 League was also cancelled and will push through at a latter date.
Games will be held once a week, every Saturday morning since the Francisco M. “Tan Ko” Palacios ballfield could not host night matches with the lights still broken and not aligned.
Meanwhile, it’s unconfirmed whether the finals rematch between pennant champions Brotherhood and the San Antonio Masters in the Belau Men’s Slow-pitch Softball League pushed through yesterday or not. (Jon Perez)
