Chamber’s July meeting at Kanoa Resort

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will host its July general membership luncheon meeting at the newly christened Kanoa Resort in Susupe (the former Saipan Grand Hotel) this Wednesday. Luncheon will begin at 11:30am, and the meeting begins at 12pm. Luncheon is $20 for SCC members, and $30 for guests and non-members.

SCC will present two speakers this Wednesday: Oscar Camacho, from the Commonwealth Development Authority, will present CDA’s role in the State Small Business Credit Initiative. The $13.2 million allocated the CNMI uses those federal funds to stimulate private sector lending and improve access to capital for small businesses that are creditworthy but not getting loans they need to expand and create jobs. CDA says there are now two banks in the CNMI that are participating in getting these loans out to local small businesses.

Also speaking will be Perry Inos, heading the CNMI Department of Commerce’s Small Business Development Center, will present an overview of training workshops available to Chamber members and non-members through a memorandum of understanding signed between SBDC and the Chamber. SBDC would like input from the Chamber on desired workshop topics and training. (SCC)
