Chamber announces first monthly business seminar
In an effort to provide training and valuable business information to all island companies, the Saipan Chamber of Commerce will be hosting monthly business seminars on various topics.
The first of these seminars will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 9am to noon, at the Chamber conference room on the third floor of Marianas Business Plaza. The topic for this month’s event is “Keeping Your Business Safe from Robbery, Theft, and Corruption.”
Various local experts will make presentations on the following topics:
– Armed Robbery Prevention: Jim Arenovski, Island Training Solutions
– Effective Security Systems: Moises Pangelinan, G4S
– Background Checks: Steve Brownstein, The Background Investigator
– Check/Credit Card Fraud: Jim Arenovski, Island Training Solutions
– Safeguarding Your In-House Accounting: Richard Waldo, NMC
These subjects are of vital importance to all businesses as every company strives to maximize dollars spent, and to protect against loss in our island economy. Bizfilings.com states that “crimes against people and crimes against property can significantly add to your cost of doing business for many types of small businesses. Shoplifting and theft of business property are all too common and costly. Crimes against business owners, employees, customers, and others who enter the premises are less common, but can be more tragic and traumatic when they occur.”
Coffee, tea, and refreshments will be provided. Cost for members is $15; non-members are welcome at $25. Limited seating is available; call 234-7150 now to reserve your space.
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce has approximately 150 members, ranging from individuals and small companies to some of the largest companies in the Pacific region. The Chamber regularly appears before and works with government agencies, elected officials, and other business and civic organizations to improve the business climate and economic and civic development of our islands.
The Chamber not only promotes and protects business interests, but also works to promote the civic interests and general health and welfare of the Commonwealth community as a whole.
Aside from serving as an advocate for the business community, the Chamber annually awards college scholarship funds to deserving Commonwealth high school seniors and college students; and its forums and workshops have educated and informed thousands of members and non-members on diverse topics that affect our businesses, our economy, and our community.
