The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Community Guidance Center certified last Jan. 12 a total of 19 employees from three different programs on what is referred to as “Question, Persuade, and Refer,” or QPR.
QPR is an evidence-based suicide intervention training program that teaches participants how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
The newly-certified employees are from CHCC’s Crisis Counseling Program, Behavioral Health Response Program, and CNMI Suicide Prevention Program.
Since 2018, the CGC QPR trainers have certified 1,533 individuals in the CNMI (1,302 from Saipan, 104 from Tinian, and 127 from Rota).
