Charles V. Cepeda, the Northern Mariana College’s Board of Regents chairman, has been voted to stay on for another term as board chair.

At the board’s meeting Tuesday, all members voted in favor of Cepeda continuing his term. Also, all members kept their positions: Elaine H. Orilla, vice chairperson; Michaela U. Sanchez, treasurer; and Zenie P. Mafnas, Jesus M. Tudela, Irene T. Torres, and Michelle Sablan as regents.

The position of vice chairperson and treasurer were up for grabs but all members were in favor of sticking to the status quo.

Torres and Sablan were both recently appointed as regents; Sablan is a newly appointed member. In a previous interview, NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico said that Sablan being a local entrepreneur who has years of private sector experience and a passion for developing young leaders will be important as NMC continues to ramp up its workforce development efforts and its growth.

Sablan has been active and involved in community programs such as the NMI Girl Scouts, Stellar Marianas, and other organizations. Sablan is also the owner of Peña House Boutique and Salon in Chalan Kanoa.

Torres, on the other hand, has been on the NMC board since 2016 and this would be her second term.
In the past, Torres has also worked at NMC. (Justine Nauta)
