CEC executive director Kayla Igitol told Saipan Tribune yesterday that Ignacio Cabrera is the first individual who is scheduled to file his candidacy today.

Cabrera is running for a seat in the House of Representatives for Precinct 5 as an independent.
Igitol said that Cabrera had informed CEC that he will be in today at 8am.
Cabrera is chairman of the Friends of the Monument.

The CEC earlier disclosed that Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang were the first to reserve a date for filing their candidacies but Igitol said the two are not scheduled to file their candidacies tomorrow. Palacios is running for governor with Apatang as his running mate as independent bets.

Aug. 10 is the last day to file candidacies and submit nominating petitions.
Today is also the last day to establish residency requirements.
