The CNMI’s Carol Lee will continue her quest for more world ranking points, as she heads to Europe next month to play in a series of tournaments under the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors.

Lee is currently in Morocco in Africa where she has two competitions left before jumping to another continent to see action in high-ranking events in Italy and Belgium.

“I am staying at the ITF center in Morocco (International Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis Regional Training Centre). I will be training and playing and after two weeks, I will go to Europe to play in Italy and Belgium. I will stay there for more than a month and go back to Morocco and then to the other ITF center (in Fiji) in June,” the 17-year-old said.

She is playing in the ITF/CAT North African Circuit in Casablanca and won her opening match in the singles event of the Grade 3 contest yesterday. Lee swept France’s Flavie Brugnone, 6-1, 7-5, to move into the second round where she will face the winner of the match between Austria’s Emily Meyer and Morocco’s Sarah Rhallab.

The Commonwealth bet also prevailed in her doubles match, as she and Australia’s Tina Nadine Smith outclassed Lituania’s Iveta Daujotaite and Slovenia’s Maja Makoric, 6-3, 6-3. Next up for the No. 2 seed pair is a quarterfinal match against Meyer and Liechtenstein’s Sylvie Zund.

After the tournament in Casablanca, the CNMI player will go to Mohammedia to show her wares in the Raquette D’Or—another Grade 3 tournament. Then in Italy, Lee will compete in Florence and Salsomaggiore Terme, while in Belgium, she will play in Marcinelle.

Lee is ranked No. 170 (combined) in the world and has 265 rankings points in singles and 184 in doubles.
