Carol Lee and her team, Georgia Tech, reached the finals of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, as the Yellow Jackets pulled off a 4-3 win over South Carolina yesterday at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta.

Lee played both in the doubles and singles event with her and Gia Cohen’s victory over Allie Gretkowski and Emma Shelton on Court 2, 6-3, handing the No. 12-rank George Tech the first win in the division. The Yellow Jackets went on to clinch early the lone point in the doubles event after Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores topped Megan Davies and Mia Horvit on Court 1, 6-3.

In singles, Georgia Tech and the No. 14- rank South Carolina split the six matches, but the Yellow Jackets escaped with the win after Mahak Jain rallied past Ana Cruz in the last singles game, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Georgia Tech’s two other singles wins were courtesy of Flores (over Emma Shelton, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1) and Jones (against Horvit, 6-2, 6-4). Lee was the No. 5 singles player for the Yellow Jackets and lost to Silvia Chinellato, 2-6, 4-6.

With the close victory, Georgia Tech arranged a championship duel against Duke, which eliminated No. 22 Michigan in the other dual match, 4-1. The finals is scheduled for Sunday 2pm, Georgia time.
