The Cardinals swooped their third win for an undefeated campaign in the Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League 2023 season after they beat the Brewers senseless, 20-10, under the Friday night lights at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
In a repeat of their last shutout win, the Cardinals stormed home plate early for a seven- run first inning.
Brewers pitcher Shane Mallens could not locate the strike zone as he walked the Cardinals’ lead off batters Shane Yamada and Nokki Saralu, with the latter running into scoring position off a stolen base. Two runs eventually came in after a sacrifice fly from Poland Masaharu.
The Cardinals went up and down their lineup twice as the Brewers committed multiple errors on the field which they capitalized on for the seven-run inning.
The Brewers then managed to shut down the Cardinals in the second inning and tied the game up, 7-7 after multiple singles and a two-run RBI double from Tim Cruz.
The Cardinals came back guns a-blazing in the sixth inning for another lucky seven-run inning after five runs in the previous innings for a 20-10 game.
In the CK Bears-SPC Survivors game the night before, the Bears pummeled the Survivors, 9-4.
The Bears pitcher Virgil Secharmidal was dominant on the mound as he struck out the side in the first three innings, while the Bears’ offense also put in the work as they produced eight runs in three innings, then one in the fourth.
The Survivors perished even though they put up four runs as the Bears’ nine runs held up and secured the win.
In the standings, the Bears are undefeated with two wins, while the Survivors and Brewers have no wins and two losses.
