Cape Air down this weekend
Cape Air flights to the CNMI were cancelled last Friday, and this appears to have continued into the weekend.
In the meantime, United Airlines has provided extra flights to accommodate passengers.
Cape Air and United are code-share partners, with Cape Air providing the Guam-Saipan flights of United passengers traveling to the Commonwealth.
According to flightstats.com, flights scheduled to the Francisco C. Ada International Airport at 4:15am, 8:40am, and 8:35am were cancelled yesterday.
Four flights on Friday were cancelled as well, according to the website.
When asked for details on Friday, United Corporate Communications released the following statement:
“Cape Air/United Express flights between Guam and Saipan on Feb. 27, 2015, operating an ATR42 aircraft have been cancelled following a technical issue that is currently being addressed by teams from Cape Air and ATR. We will continue to provide updates on the anticipated dates and times when the aircraft will return to service…Our support teams in both Guam and Saipan are providing assistance to passengers to make the necessary arrangements for them to complete their travel. We realize this is an inconvenience to our customers and we apologize for the disruption.”
Swaths of flights were cancelled during the middle months of last year largely due to technical issues. United flew accommodating flights at that time as well.
