Candidates urged to learn campaign finance rules

The Commonwealth Election Commission has urged this year’s political candidates or their campaign treasurers to participate in a workshop about campaign financial disclosure.

CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol said CEC and the Office of the Public Auditor will conduct the workshop at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe on Monday, July 31, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

OPA staff and CEC executive director Julita Villagomez and election register clerk Robin Sablan will be the presenters at the workshop. The topics are Ethics Act, campaign finance, and Election Reform Act.

Igitol said CEC has been doing such workshop every election.

Igitol underscored the importance for the candidates or their campaign treasurers to attend the workshop because they need to file financial campaign report after the Nov. 6 general election, among other things.
