Camera catches shoplifter in the act

An unidentified man was caught by a surveillance camera stealing a G-Shock watch at iShop at the Paseo de Marianas in Garapan on Saturday night.

iShop is appealing to the public to call the police or the store for information about the identity of the suspect.

iShop also alerted the public to anyone selling the stolen item. It was worth $109, Saipan Tribune learned.

The footage showed a man, possibly in his mid 20’s, wearing a blue T-shirt, a pair of black short pants, and a black baseball cap with sunglasses. He was also wearing a black-red strap bag and slippers.

The suspect was seen going around the store. While the store’s sales associate was arranging some clothes on a table, the suspect went behind her, took the watch from the shelf and put in into his pants’ right side front pocket.

When the suspect left the store, one of the employees noticed that the watch was missing. The store’s manager then called the police.

iShop opened its Paseo branch last year. It’s the first shoplifting case in that store.
