AS CUC CONTINUES TO LOOK FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
Camacho renewed for another 60 days
Gary Camacho will be serving as the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. acting executive director for another two months.
In a board meeting Monday, the CUC Board of Directors approved the extension of Camacho’s acting capacity.
Vice chair Eric San Nicolas made the motion to extend Camacho “to have him in acting capacity as we continue to JVA out the ED position and look for applicants.”
It was seconded by board member Albert Taitano and was carried after unanimous yes votes from the members who were present.
The initial extension of Camacho as acting executive director was set to expire on April 6, 2016, but due to the extension, he will be in the position until June.
Camacho was given the position after Water and Waste Water Division chief engineer John Riegel’s term as acting executive director ended in December.
Riegel became acting executive director after former CUC executive director Alan Fletcher resigned from the position last June.
According to board chair Adelina Roberto, they have no current applicants for the executive director position but they were given the go signal to publish another round of job vacancy announcements for all their stipulated order positions.
The executive director position is among the vacant senior management positions required under Stipulated Order No. 1, which CUC still fails to fill.
CUC is said to face penalties of $2,000 to $5,000 per day for noncompliance with the requirement to hire stipulated-order officials. They are said to have already incurred $40 million in penalties for failing to comply with SO1.
