Call for papers for 3rd Marianas History Conference
The Northern Marianas Humanities Council continues its call for papers for the 3rd Marianas History Conference, “One Archipelago, Many Stories,” which will be held on Saipan on Sept. 4-6.
The conference will cover a full range of topics associated with the archipelago’s history with a particular focus on the conference subtheme, “Milestones in Marianas History.”
Research papers may be submitted under the following categories: Ancient History; Early Colonial History; Late Colonial History; World War II; Recent (post-war); and Oral History and Genealogy.
Paper abstracts with a maximum of 150 words and the presenter’s bio may be submitted online via a link in the council’s website at www.northernmarianashumanities.org.
The submission deadline for abstracts is April 30, 2015.
Conference presenters will be allotted 20 minutes to present their papers and an additional 10 minutes for questions and discussion.
This year’s conference, to be held at the Saipan World Resort, will feature keynote presentations by Dr. Miguel Vilar, James Viernes, and Jessica Jordan.
Principal conference sponsors include the University of Guam, the Guam Preservation Trust, and the Northern Marianas Humanities Council. Conference planning and management support will be provided by Guampedia.
