UOG enrollment increases over 3 pct. for spring 2014

Despite national trends of falling enrollment in higher education, enrollment at the University of Guam continues to rise. UOG Admissions has reported a certified enrollment of 3,628 students for spring 2014, which is an increase of over 3 percent from spring 2013 and the highest spring enrollment since the year 2000.
With 287 graduate students and over 3,300 undergraduate students, UOG enrollment continues its upward trajectory.
“This demonstrates the confidence our community has in the University of Guam,” said Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, interim senior vice president of Academic and Student Affairs. “The university offers relevant, high-quality programs which meet the needs of our island and region and continue to attract students.”
In the last two years, the university has achieved some notable milestones in enrollment and revenues. In academic year 2012-2013, UOG achieved its highest enrollment numbers in the last 15 years and conferred nearly 500 degrees in one of the largest graduating classes in UOG history. In 2012, University revenues reached an all-time high of $104 million, driven by $50 million in grants and contracts that provide education, research, service and capacity building in areas such as disabilities, agriculture, water quality, cancer and more. Most recently, the fall 2013 semester saw the university’s highest enrollment since fall 1999 at 3,836.
“These record levels of student enrollment and revenues demonstrate the impact of the university to the island and region,” said UOG president Dr. Robert Underwood. “This year, we will be graduating our 15,000th student, another milestone in our 62-year history.”
The University of Guam began as the Territorial College of Guam in 1952 and became the University of Guam in 1968. In 1972, UOG received land-grant status.
UOG is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and offers 34 undergraduate degree programs and 15 graduate degree programs, including two fully online graduate programs: Master of Education in Reading and Professional Master of Business Administration. [I](UOG)[/I]
