Paire leads opening week winners

Paire Football Club got off to a good start after defeating Matansa Football Club in the boys U18 division, 1-0, during the opening week of the 2014 NMIFA Spring Youth Football League last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

Ethan Dickinson scored the first goal of the season for Paire, as he connected a header after a corner kick in the 50th minute.

Over at the Oleai Sports Complex Field for the other boys U18 game, MP United whipped Tan Holdings FC, 4-0.

Four different players scored in MP United’s first game of the season. The Norman Del Rosario-coached team started slow, making only one goal in the opening half off Enrico Del Rosario’s hit in the 18th minute. MP United then got its second goal, courtesy of Greg Sablan, with just five minutes gone by in the second half, while Tanapon Unsa also made it to the board 25 minutes later. Jehn Joyner drilled the fourth and last goal 10 minutes before the match wrapped up.

BOYS U15
MP United prevailed, too, in the lone boys U15 game last Saturday at the Oleai pitch, downing Tan Holdings FC.

Sunjoon Tenorio recorded the lone goal in the game when he scored in the 23rd minute.
The boys U15 competition started last Friday with Matansa FC and Shirley’s FC playing in the opening game, also at the Oleai pitch. Matansa went on to pound Shirley’s FC, 7-0.

Evan Belcher was unstoppable in Matansa’s season debut, as he canned four goals, while James Ermitanio, Carlson Cruzat, and Joshua De Leon chipped in one apiece. Belcher drew first blood for Matansa with his goal in the ninth, while Ermitanio also scored in the first half (29th minute). The first 45 minutes of the match ended with Matansa ahead, 3-0, after Belcher got his second goal.
In the second half, Cruzat opened the scoring for Matansa when he found the back of the net in the 55th, while Belchers scored the next two goals in a span of eight minutes (63rd and 72nd minute). De Leon capped Matansa’s demolition of Shirley’s FC with a goal in the 82nd.

GIRLS U15
In the first girls U15 match at the Hopwood pitch, MP United clipped past Kanoa FC.
Gillian Villagomez registered the lone goal in the match, scoring in the 35th.
In the second game, Tan Holdings FC eased past Paire FC, 5-0.

Back-to-back goals from Chloe Salvosa set up Tan Holdings’ shutout win. She got her first goal in the ninth minute and the second 14 minutes later. Krizel Mae Tuazon made it a 3-0 advantage with her goal in the 25th minute, while Mary Kay Alfero also lit up the board five minutes later for a 4-0 halftime lead. Chevy Kate Alipio completed Tan Holdings’ domination of Paire with a goal in the 64th minute.
