Teen arrested for allegedly burglarizing shop
A teenager was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing copper wires, a desk top computer, and other tools from a maintenance workshop belonging to his family’s landlord in Dandan.
Gerson Paul Semens, 18, was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho yesterday for his initial appearance on charges of burglary and theft.
A $5,000 cash bail was imposed for Semens’ temporary release.
Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that on Feb. 6, 2014, a police officer was dispatched to a residence in Dandan, where a maintenance work shop had been burglarized.
Pangelinan said copper wires and other tools were stolen.
The following day, Pangelinan said, the owner of the property called her to report that he has a clue about the burglary.
It was learned that the victim’s maintenance worker had discovered a small black strip of copper wire on the floor of the tenant’s house while he was fixing the smoke detector inside the residence.
The worker reported the matter to the victim.
Pangelinan said that she, the victim, and the worker searched the house with the consent of the tenant.
Pangelinan said they then found the stolen items inside a locked room in the house.
The tenant told the detective that she has no knowledge about the items and hinted that her 18-year-old son may have been possibly behind it.
Pangelinan said Semens later came and admitted that he stole the items from the shop on Feb. 5.
