26 sign up for ukulele lessons

Ukulele lessons at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library began this week with 26 students initially signing up for beginners, intermediate, and advanced courses at the state library’s Children of our Homeland Library.
Of the 26 students who signed up, 15 are enrolled in the beginners class, seven for intermediate, and five for advanced. All classes are being taught by professional musician Larry Lee.
The beginners class is held every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:30 pm, while intermediate and advanced classes are every Thursday from 4:45pm to 5:45pm.
Slots still remain for the second week of classes. The ukulele classes at JKPL are open to children 8 years or older and adults and costs $50 for the lessons’ eight-hour entirety.
The beginner class is open to anyone who is interested on learning how to play the ukulele, while students enrolled in the advanced ukulele class have already hurdled the intermediate class.
A minimum of 15 students and a maximum of 40 students are needed for the classes to start. Registration is on first-come, first-paid basis.
Students should provide their own ukuleles and a folder to hold music sheets. JKPL recommends plastic sheet protectors and a three-ring binder for this purpose.
Parents or guardians should also sign a liability waiver form on behalf of their participating children and must adhere to public library policies and procedures.
