UOG, GHD promote engineering in schools during E-Week
TAMUNING, Guam—The University of Guam Endowment Foundation, GHD Inc., the Society of American Military Engineers Guam Post and other engineers from the private sector and government will be visiting Guam middle, junior and senior high school classrooms during National Engineers Week, or E-Week, on Feb. 16-22, 2014.
Led by the National Society of Professional Engineers, E-Week is part of the 14th annual Discover “E” campaign. During E-Week, over 40,000 engineers throughout the U.S. will reach more than five million students and teachers. Their goal is to help bring practical applications of math, science, and technology to the classroom and increase student interest in those subjects.
GHD, SAME Guam Post, and UOG will be visiting schools from Feb. 17 to 21, 2014. The visits will include information on the different types of engineering, what it takes to get an engineering degree, and introduce the UOG School of Engineering. In addition, GHD, SAME Guam Post and UOG are sponsoring a bridge-building competition for any private and public high school student teams that may be interested which will be held at UOG Anthony Leon Guerrero Building on March 1, 2014, from 9am to 11am.
