178 avail of UFO assistance for E-passport appointment

A total of 178 availed of the help of the United Filipino Organization for their E-passport appointments last Sunday at the Don Pedro Restaurant in Garapan.
The E-passport appointment is being conducted in advance of the Philippine Consulate General’s mobile consular outreach on Feb. 11 to 13 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
“Even though it was raining hard last Sunday, a lot of applicants still showed up that day. We are happy that the organization was able to assist 151 applicants on that day alone from 8:30am to 3pm. But aside from that we had 27 applicants assisted before Sunday,” said UFO president Annamae Adaza.
She said that people now understand how important having an E-passport appointment is.
“They don’t have to fall in line and they don’t have to go there as early as 3am just to renew their passport. Strictly no walk-in will be entertained this time and it’s also good for all of us. With the appointment system, we know what time we will show up. Let’s say, if your appointment is 9am, then just be there by 8:45am. As simple as that.”
As of Sunday night, the Philippine Consulate General in Guam will no longer be accepting applicants for appointment.
“Once you email you will receive an automatic reply notice informing that the quota of the first 360 applicants is already full. It means no more applicants will be entertained. With the appointment system this time we are expecting to have smooth services but then again I know some will still take chances as walk-in. A lot of people are asking why only 360 applicants, why can’t [they] accept more than that?”
She, however, said that the consulate in Guam just couldn’t accommodate more since they only have one machine. “It’s too risky to overload a machine to avoid a breakdown.”
Adaza also reminded those who applied last Sunday to wait for the first week of February for their appointment schedule. They could also pick their applications and copy of passport on the day of their appointment at the UFO table.
