Marianas Coffee Trail Run early bird deadline today
The 7th Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run on Saipan kicks off this Saturday, Jan. 25, at 6:30am from the American Memorial Park in Garapan.
Early bird registration fees by Jan. 23 are $10 for children ages 12 and under, $15 for athletes ages 13-18 years old, and $25 for participants ages 19 and older. Registration forms for the event are also available at the Marianas Visitors Authority website Events Calendar at www.mymarianas.com under the event date or at the MVA office in San Jose.
Latecomers can still register up until 5:30am on race day for an additional $10 over the early bird fee. Walkers are welcomed to participate in the 10K short course.
The event features a 20K trail run and a 10K short course from the beach at American Memorial Park in Garapan to the top of Mt. Tapochao, the peak of the mountain range originating in the Marianas Trench. The course boasts some of the most picturesque views of Saipan and traverses wild coffee plantations of the Japanese colonial period and the newer plantations of the Marianas Coffee Co.
Awards will be presented for first, second, and third place in male and female divisions. All participants will receive a finisher’s T-shirt, certificate of participation, Marianas Coffee, and an invitation to the awards banquet following the race at the Micro Beach Pavilion at 11:30am.
Race co-sponsors included Marianas Coffee Company, the KFC Triathlon Club Japan, TEAM PDI, and Northern Marianas Athletics. Race supporters are the Division of Parks and Recreation, Dept. of Lands and Natural Resources, Dept. of Homeland Security, BJ & Jesus Attao’s Farm, and Frank Camacho. In-kind contributions have been made by Saipan Shipping Co., Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Canton Restaurant, and S2 Club Marine Tech Saipan.
