Police arrested a man on Friday for domestic violence that allegedly occurred last October and December at the house of his girlfriend’s mother in As Matuis.

Ernest M. Camacho, 23, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday for criminal mischief, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $5,000 cash.

Police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that Camacho allegedly choked his girlfriend on Oct. 26 and caused damage to the house of his girlfriend’s mother on Dec. 17.

In the Oct. 26 incident, Camacho allegedly pinned his girlfriend to the floor and choked her neck. A neighbor came and shouted at Camacho to stop. The suspect then hid behind the curtain of the window. The neighbor noticed that the victim was not moving and appeared to have passed out.

The girlfriend, however, did not press charges.

Camacho moved out of the house. After a few weeks, his girlfriend moved with him to As Perdido.

On Dec. 17, the victim returned to her mother’s house because she had a problem again with Camacho.

That day, Camacho allegedly followed his girlfriend and damaged the metal screen door in the garage and window when she refused to let him in.

The mother, who was at work at the time, asked her daughter to put her on speakerphone. The mother then shouted at Camacho to leave the house.

When police arrived, Camacho was arrested. He was subsequently released as investigation was ongoing.
