Roxanne Diaz leaves DPH post

After many years of leading the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Public Health Division, Roxanne Diaz recently departed her post to pursue other goals.
The corporation has appointed Margaret Aldan in her stead. Aldan has been a division employee for many years and used to handle its maternal and child health program.
Both Aldan and corporation interim CEO Esther Muña were not available to provide comments when contacted yesterday.
Diaz confirmed with Saipan Tribune yesterday her resignation from the corporation. She filed her resignation letter on Dec. 17 and last reported for work on Dec. 30.
Diaz served the then-Department of Public Health in various capacities including executive assistant to the secretary of Public Health, spokesperson for the agency, and analyst, among other positions.
In an interview yesterday, Diaz said she had the opportunity to work with a reliable team at the Public Health Division.
“I worked with a great team and staff at the Division of Public Health Services and although we faced great challenges during the DPH-CHCC transition, we pulled through together as a team and we were able to achieve significant milestones and accomplishments the past two years,” she said.
Diaz leaves the division with key and innovative initiatives in place that will impact the health of the island people for years to come. She hope the corporation will continue to prioritize these initiatives for 2014 and beyond.
“There is great need to improve the health and welfare of our people and for that, I am still very committed to serving my dear people of the Commonwealth and also plan to continue doing public health work,” she assured.
The Division of Public Health Services is composed of five bureaus and has over 20 programs and services. It has 109 employees on Saipan, Rota and Tinian and is primarily funded by federal grants from the Department of Health & Human Services.
