Residents of Koblerville and Afetna villages will experience a 9-hour water outage on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, from 8am to 5pm, according to a Commonwealth Utilities Corp. statement yesterday.

The purpose of this water outage is to allow CUC’s contractor, AIC Marianas, to remove a non-working gate valve on Koblerville Road. This project is part of the Koblerville Gate Valve and Fire Hydrant Replacement Project funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The water outage will affect residents living in the Koblerville and Afetna area.

CUC’s operations team and AIC Marianas will be working hard to return service to our customers in these affected areas as soon as possible. Because of the scale of the work to be performed, CUC recommends that motorists take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the construction sites.

CUC apologizes in advance for any inconvenience resulting from this project and the water service interruption. Direct inquiries to project manager Yvonne Cabrera at (670) 253-7025 through 30. (CUC)
