The United Filipino Organization last week turned over to the Philippine Consulate General in Guam a check worth $14,150 that represents donations from two companies and one church on Saipan to victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

UFO secretary Mario Mayuga delivered the check to the consulate general in Agana. The lion’s share of the donation comes from Saipan World Resort, which donated $12,250—$10,000 from the hotel’s main office in South Korea and $2,250 from employee donations.

Immanuel Methodist Church’s Korean group also contributed $1,500, while $400 was donated by JET Holdings.

Philippine Consul General Bayani V. Mangibin was on hand to receive the check donation, as well as Consul Edgar Thomas Q. Auxilian, Consul Maria Paz G. Cortes, and Emerita Marquez, the consulate general’s collecting officer. The check donation was made for the Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Mayuga also told Mangibin that UFO was able to raise $11,184.64 through collections from various groups, individuals, and companies on Saipan from November to December 2013. UFO already turned over that amount to ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya Foundation for the benefit of Haiyan victims. UFO also sent 401 boxes of relief goods through the LBC Foundation to the Philippine Red Cross.
