Application for leadership program extended until today
Pacific Century Fellows Marianas Chapter has extended to today the deadline for applicants who want to be part of the PCF Program’s inaugural year.
According to Maggie Sablan, Tan Siu Lin Foundation manager, the original deadline for applicants to the leadership program was Dec. 31, 2013. However, since the deadline coincided with the holidays, the foundation decided to extend it another week.
“We have to decided to extend the deadline to Jan. 7th because of the holidays,” she said in an email to Saipan Tribune.
Ten judges would interview the candidates for the leadership program on Jan. 18.
The non-profit Pacific Century Fellows Marianas Chapter was set up to build a more effective and cohesive leadership that would enable some of the “best and brightest” to step up to assume major roles on the islands.
It is based on the Pacific Century Fellows Program in Hawaii, which was founded by former Honolulu mayor Mufi Hannemann. The entire program is also modeled after the national White House Fellows program, with the intent of developing and bringing together strong community leaders to strategically tackle some of today’s most pressing matters.
Candidates of the PCF Marianas Chapter Program must be between the ages of 25-45 years old from various areas of expertise (tourism, healthcare, government, education, military, law, small business, non-profit, etc).
They must demonstrate strong leadership, professionalism, and have a track record of active volunteerism and community service. Class size for the program year is limited, and candidates will be chosen through a rigorous interview and selection process by a blue ribbon panel of judges.
