Marilyn “Jackie” Mendiola won the grand prize in Saipan Computer Services, Inc.’s 2013 Customer Appreciation Raffle, the drawing of which was held yesterday at the computer store’s office along Beach Road, Garapan.

The grand prize is an LG 55” Full HD 1080p LED Smart TV. Enhancing the home theater experience is a Triple XD, Tru-Motion, Dolby Digital, WiFi, and 2.0 Channel Sound Bar.

Mendiola, who is a regular customer, bought an Asus Notebook, an Asus Memo Pad, flash drive, and other miscellaneous items worth more than $1,200 late last year. Her purchase gave her 48 entries to the yearend raffle that gives a raffle ticket for every $25 purchase.

In all, close to 3,000 entries qualified for the raffle, said SCS, Inc. staff Grace Delos Santos.

SCS, Inc. general manager Jerry Tiu said the 2013 Customer Appreciation Raffle started a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving and the prizes are even bigger this year compared to 2012, with more than $8,000 worth of prizes given away

“This is an appreciation raffle for our customers for their support. It’s an indication that we see how much support we’re getting from the CNMI. This is support from all sectors, both private and public sectors—businesses and the government.”

Other lucky customers of SCS, Inc. also won big-ticket items at the raffle.

Winning the first prize—an Acer Aio Desktop PC—is Edeng Siruma, who coincidentally also won for herself the fifth prize of 2TB External HD.

The second prize of a Canon Rebel SLR camera went to Wilmer Sablan, who also won the consolation prize of a Duo Pinball and SCS, Inc. T-shirt.

Other major winners include: DeeDee Towai, third prize (Apple iPad Air); Divina C. DL Cruz, fourth prize (Acer 11” LED netbook); Gregorio R. Camacho, sixth prize (Samsung digital camera); Dr. Eagle Oden, seventh prize (Asus Memor Pad 7”); and Rodney Castro, eighth prize (HP Deskjet D1000 printer).

SCS, Inc. also gave away five minor prizes of a 16GB USB flash drive and 15 consolation prizes of a Duo Pinball and SCS, Inc. T-shirt.

Aside from Tiu, his wife Kazuko, and other SCS, Inc. staff, Burger & Comer auditor Gary Bernardo and KZMI’s Bob Webb were also present during the raffle drawing. The former validated the raffle winners.

Tiu congratulated all the winners and reflected a little about how business was steady for SCS, Inc. in the past year.

“We do understand the difficulty posed by the economy, by the ups and down of so many things that affect us. We also see there is continuous support and patronage. To us that basically validates our motto, which is ‘Service Beyond the Sale,’” he said.
