CK, Susupe crime capital indeed

The Department of Public Safety’s crime statistics for 2013 showed that Chalan Kanoa and Susupe are indeed the crime capital of Saipan.
According to DPS statistics released to the media, there were 3,105 criminal offenses reported last year, and most of the crimes or 1,129 were burglaries, robberies, and thefts.
Of the 272 burglary cases, Chalan Kanoa was on top with 30, followed by Kagman with 25, and Dandan with 21.
Of the eight robbery cases, Garapan was on top with 2.
Of the 799 theft cases, Susupe was leading with 107, followed by Chalan Kanoa with 60, and Garapan with 56.
The second most crime committed was disturbance with 693 disturbing the peace cases. Susupe has the most number with 78, followed by Chalan Kanoa with 53, and Koblerville with 50.
DPS Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero formed the Community Oriented Policing Section for Chalan Kanoa and Susupe a few months back after citing the two villages as the crime capital of the island.
Listed as third most crimes committed were 569 violent crimes—aggravated assault and battery, assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, riot, and senior citizen physical/mental abuse.
The other crimes committed were property crime, 316; police assistance for injured/dead person, 81; juvenile crime, 59; child abuse/neglect, 46; conspiracy/fraud/forgery, 39; controlled substance, 39; obstruction of justice, 39; contempt 37; sex crime, 34; firearm license/registration, 7; arson, 5; general crime—illegal alcohol sales and misuse of government vehicle, 3; and kidnapping/false arrest, 3.
