Docomo Yolanda text campaign extended until tomorrow
Docomo Pacific’s fundraising campaign to benefit victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the central Philippines has been extended to tomorrow, Dec. 24.
The telecommunication company’s general manager, James Nelson, said that Docomo Pacific will tally the funds raised through the campaign and will make public the results as soon as possible
The text campaign for victims of Yolanda is made through Docomo Pacific’s community organization, Docomo Pacific Cares, and was initially through Dec. 15.
All proceeds generated in the text campaign will be forwarded to the Filipino Community of Guam for coordination with the Ayuda Foundation, the Consulate General of the Philippines, and the Office of the Governor of Guam.
Nelson said the funds will be used to purchase medical supplies to assist the many victims of the typhoon.
Monetary donations for this fundraising campaign will be generated through the following:
– Docomo Pacific mobile customers can donate $5 by texting “DONATE” to 4357 (HELP). There is no monetary limit and customers can text as many times as they like. Both postpaid and prepaid customers are eligible to participate.
– Monetary donation boxes will be set up at all Docomo Pacific retail locations.
– The employee association of Docomo Pacific, DOCOMOTION, will also be collecting donations and raising additional monies through various fundraising events.
In related news, Nelson said Docomo Pacific aired for free GMA Pinoy TV on Channel 21 as a public service to Filipinos on Saipan in the wake of devastation brought by Yolanda in the central Philippines last Nov. 8.
“We offered GMA free so that we can all be informed on what is happening immediately after the supertyphoon.”
The free channel ended midnight of Dec. 18.
