Gov. Eloy S. Inos signed an over $656,000 contract for Pacific Cooperation Ltd. to start construction of a road and ponding basin for the West San Jose Homestead Subdivision on Tinian.

“The contract is for $656,150.50. The project completion date should be three months after the notice to proceed, which is the only thing the contract is waiting for,” the office of Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider told Saipan Tribune on Friday.

Inos and Hofschneider, through the Department of Public Lands, solicited for sealed bids on the “right-of-way and excavation of the ponding basin [for] San Jose Homestead Subdivision project” in May.

The scope of work includes the grubbing, grading, and construction of approximately 11, 918 linear feet of road for the West San Jose Homestead on Tinian.

Bids were submitted and reviewed. The winning bidder was named in July.

“This project has been a long time coming. The people of Tinian have been waiting for access to the West San Jose Homestead Subdivision, and so it is satisfying to finally see this project move forward. Because of the efforts of this administration, and the support of the CNMI leadership, the Department of Public Lands and the Department of Public Works, future residents of this subdivision will soon have access to their respective homesteads,” Hofschneider said in a statement.

Hofschneider’s office said the contract is now headed to the Division of Procurement and Supply to prepare a notice to proceed.
