HAGÅTÑA, Guam—The Association of Pacific Island Legislatures, in its recent board of directors meeting, unanimously adopted Resolution 54-BOD-07, that promotes an affordable alternative regional transportation between Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by means of a commuter and cargo vessel service.

Delegates from the various Island Legislatures shared their experience with interisland shipping in their home islands including costs and challenges.

Sen. Tina Muña Barnes said, “I am encouraged by the regional support through APIL. Looking to our neighbors and learning from their experiences will help us avoid some of the obstacles to promoting affordable alternatives for transportation for passengers and cargo between Guam and the CNMI.” (PR)
