Two title fights will be the highlights of the Trench Warz 17: Night of the Champions.

Zalaka’s Jordan Manglona and Trench Tech’s Josh “Chaos” Duenas will battle in the first title bout of the night. They duel for the flyweight crown (125 lbs) on Dec. 13 at the Royal Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort. Manglona will be coming into the flyweight championship showdown with momentum, as he won his latest fight in the Rites of Passage 15: Wrath of the Warriors. He scored a victory via rear-naked choked on R.A.A.’s Ray Camacho at the 1:51 mark of the first round. Manglona was also triumphant in Trench Warz 16: Firepower, earning a unanimous decision over Guam Muay Thai-debut fighter D.J. Duenas. The Zalaka bet has a 3-1 win/loss MMA record and 2-2 slate in kickboxing.

Duenas, on the other hand, holds a 4-4 card, according to Sherdog, a website that lists MMA fighters’ record. He faced Tiyan Tough Walkers’ Dylan “DSP” Pablo in Trench Warz 16’s flyweight title fight and recorded a TKO victory via referee stoppage at 3:46 mark of the second round.

The second and last title bout of the night will pit heavyweights Mylo “Bam Bam” Lassiter and Neil “Lionheart” Taisacan.

Lassiter owns a 6-2 record, registering his latest win in the Rites of Passage 15 in August this year after posting a third round TKO victory against Olympian (judo) and France’s Ferrid “Hurricane” Kheder. He is a heavy favorite against Taisacan record-wise, as the former holds a 0-4 slate, according to Sherdog. The Trench Warz 17 will be Taisacan’s comeback fight after over three years of absence in the octagon cage. The 195-lb fighter’s last bout, according to Sherdog, was against Robert Palacios during the Gorilla Warfare: Armageddon on Aug. 28, 2010. Taisacan lost on a submission (RNC) at the 1:57 mark of the first round.

Meanwhile, 11 other fights will be featured in next week’s Trench Warz 17.

The first three bouts will be kickboxing contests with Kyle “300” Martin of Guam Muay Thai taking on Benji Estoque in a 125-lb duel, Jonathan “Outlaw” Camacho of Team D2S meeting Lenny “Machine Gun” Sablan at 135 lbs, and Jones Langu challenging Trench Tech’s Jasper “The Disaster” Van Der Maas at 145 lbs.

For the MMA action starter, Zalaka’s Franklin Agulto will square off against Kainoa “The Ghost” Wanket of Team D2S at 135 lbs. Other MMA bouts include Zalaka’s Allan Aguon vs Pwang’s Garry “Dissa” Ray; Marianas Elite’s Jon Tudela vs Trench Tech’s Vince Torres; Gracie Barra’s Jose “Young Blood” Ramirez vs Marianas Elite’s Vince “Sanity” Pua; Zalaka’s Danny Cruz vs Spike 22’s Rob “Shiska” Alvarez; and Tiger Yatsui vs Ryan “Trobz” Ngirbabul.

Donivan “Trackstar” Mendiola is also scheduled to see action in Trench Warz 17, but his opponent in the 155-lb bout has yet to be announced, while a Saipan versus Korea encounter will take place in between the two title fights with Marianas Elite’s Derrick “El Peligro” Rangamar challenging Korean Top Team’s Kwan Ho Kwak.

Tickets for the Trench Warz 17 are now available at $35 (for VIP) and $25 (generally admission) at Docomo Pacific, Boarderline Surf and Skate, FISG, and the Trench Tech Gym.
