The Saipan Chamber of Commerce board of directors has selected Patrick Leon Guerrero as its new executive director.

Leon Guerrero has over 25 year’s management experience in both government and private sectors with emphasis in utility and construction industries.

Saipan businesses are challenged with the rising costs of utility services and having someone with Leon Guerrero’s background and experience could provide SCC members insight and understanding not normally available.

Leon Guerrero is the former chief of operations for CUC and has institutional knowledge regarding CUC regulations and operations.

He continues to conduct research and opportunities to reduce the islands’ dependence on fossil fuels. Leon Guerrero was instrumental in formulating the Water Task Force in 2003, the Task Force has managed federal grants in excess of $40 million dedicated to improve the production and delivery of a 24-hour water for the island of Saipan.

Leon Guerrero moved to Saipan in 1991 and is married to Bertha C. Leon Guerrero. Both are very active members of the community, they participate in public forum events, involved with Mariana Islands Natures Alliance and DEQ Beach Cleanup Brigade as well as church ministries. Leon Guerrero is also the commissioner of the Commonwealth Football League Association. (PR)
