Local businesses and organizations have expressed support for the CNMI Public School System’s Junior Achievement Company Program.
Program coordinator Carline B. Sablan said yesterday that several companies and groups have volunteered to be in charge of teaching and training high school students for the program, which aims to cultivate work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through practical or hands-on experience.
“We have commitments for all high schools on Saipan and Tinian,” Sablan told Saipan Tribune.
She disclosed that Phillip Mendiola-Long of the Tinian Chamber of Commerce will be responsible for participants from Tinian High School while the Rotary Club of Saipan is in charge of Marianas High School.
Sablan said a group of at least four companies that include IP&E and Triple J Enterprises have teamed up for trainees from Saipan Southern High School. The Small Business Development Center also formed a team of two or three businesses to supervise Kagman High School students.
Another coordinator, Frances Ulloa of PSS, said in a separate interview that Bill Hocog is in charge of Rota High School trainees.
Ulloa noted that while there will be 25 trainees from each of the public high school on Saipan, there will be fewer participants from Tinian and Rota due to the schools’ lower population.
Once the list of trainees and volunteers is finalized, Ulloa said they will begin with the orientation and other activities for the program.
