Last Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at about 7:20am, the CNMI Department of Public Safety received a 911 call reporting a possible burglary and theft incident at the Hopwood Middle School in Koblerville. DPS dispatched units to the area.

Upon arriving at the scene, police met with an employee of the school, who stated that they were unlocking the front gate when they noticed scattered papers near the entrance to the main office. The individual then opened the principal and vice principal’s office and noticed scattered items throughout the room. The individual also noticed that the desk drawers had all been left open. The individual then notified the principal and vice principal and called for police assistance.

After a quick inventory, the principal and vice principal stated that the only item missing was a black cellphone confiscated weeks earlier. After the incident, school officials tried to reach the parents of the cellphone owner, but did not get the chance to speak to them.

If you or someone you know want to report a crime that occurred in your school, we encourage you to call 911. If you would like to remain anonymous, call the CNMI Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272. (PR)
