The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. shut off water storage tanks at 7pm tonight to reduce water pressure. This will lead to water services going offline by about 9pm.

This is being done to prevent damage to the tank systems and to ensure immediate islandwide restoration after the typhoon.

Normal water services will resume after full assessments are made after the storm.

As for power, CUC assured that it will maintain power for as long as possible.

If heavy weather conditions cause feeder interruptions, the CUC power plant may not be able to restore power due to safety and hazard concerns.

CUC line crews will only be dispatched once conditions are safe to repair any damage.

PSS advisory

Public School System classes will be cancelled tomorrow, Oct. 22, 2019, for schools on the island of Saipan and Tinian.

PSS classes on the island of Rota will resume tomorrow. All PSS employees on Rota must report to work tomorrow.

The notice, issued by the Office of the Education Commissioner as of 5:30pm today, urged the public to stay tuned for further updates as they become available.

DPS advisory

The Department of Public Safety is warning drivers of potentially hazardous road conditions beginning Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
