Bruce Almighty completes semis cast

Bruce Almighty outlasted the NSA Young Warriors in overtime, 68-63, in last Thursday’s playoff game at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium to catch the last bus to the semifinal round of the boys U15 division of the 2018 Frank M. Diaz Memorial Youth League.
Greg Deleon Guerrero and Devin Igisomar teamed up in the extra five minutes for Bruce Almighty to bring their squad to the Final Four in the company of the 670 Sonics, RT Law NMI Rollers, and Saipan Vegas. Igisomar, who was held to one field goal in regulation, scored 7 straight points in the extension, while Deleon Guerrero knocked in 4 markers, making Bruce Almighty’s first and last baskets in the extension period. Derrick Atalig, Joel Norita, and Jonathan Riungel drilled the only three field goals for the Young Warriors in ovetime.
The Young Warriors and Bruce Almighty were ranked fourth and fifth after the regular season and were pretty even in the playoff. Neither team seemed willing to give in, as Bruce Almighty and the Young Warriors were in a standoff after the first half of their playoff game, 36-all.
The match was still in a deadlock after the regulation with Mike Daikichy saving the day for the Young Warriors after scoring the team’s last 3 markers in the second half and L.J. Reyes making a pair of free throws for Bruce Almighty.
Then in the overtime, behind Deleon Guerrero and Igisomar, Bruce Almighty outgunned the Young Warriors to take the last semis seat and arrange a Final Four duel against the top-ranked and unbeaten 670 Sonics tomorrow. Saipan Vegas and RT Law NMI Rollers will collide in the other semis game.
