The Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association will hold the 2021 Bridge Capital Tennis Classic tournament this weekend for the second time around.

After a year since the inaugural event was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that officially reached the island around March 2020, NMITA is set to pick it back up starting today, May 28, and will continue on to March 30.

The tournament will feature a boys and girls singles tournament from ages 10 to 18.

Participants of the upcoming tournament include Ocean Kang, Taher Shakir, Ian Chae, Matthew Hwang, Hoo Wang, Anne Lee, Eliza Culp, Seungwoo Lee, Nason Wessel, Cody Shimizu, Anna Kwon, Savita Sikkel, Lina Tsukagoshi, Wataru Kadokura, Min Seoung Kim, Andy Kim, Serin Chung, Jimin Woo, Hyejin Elliot, Jun Wang, David Kwon, Quido Jambor, Ki Won Lee, Stephen Yeom, Henry Yeom, Eamon Tang, Yutaka Kadokura, and Hannah Chae.

Last year, NMITA was able to complete the two-weekend tournament and was halfway through the fourth competition (the inaugural Bridge Capital Tennis Classic) of the 2019-2020 season when the pandemic hit the islands and the rest of the world, forcing the cancelation of the remaining events of the year, including the North Pacific Regional Championships in Guam and the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships in Fiji.
