Cepeda pitched 4.1 innings in relief coming in the bottom of the fifth when Greg Iskawa was about to bat and the Falcons, with two outs, already having scored four runs. He walked Iskawa and Haini Blas but got the third out by fanning Juan Iguel.

Cepeda, the ERA and strikeout leader, finally settled in after that and pitched four shutout innings to seal the Brewers’ fifth straight win. He struck out 12 for the second straight game while walking three.

Cepeda’s total of 12 strikeouts was the combined output of Falcons pitchers Aaron Benavente, Dave Torres, Peter Lieto, and Jess Celis for the entire match.

Cepeda looked like he was in a hurry as he had quick 1-2-3 innings, from the seventh to ninth. He struck out Henry Iguel, Lamarc Iguel, and Celis in the bottom of the ninth to end the Falcons’ hopes of making a comeback.

Right fielder Omar went 2-for-5 and his two-RBI single in top of the second highlighted the defending champions’ four-run rally to enjoy a 5-0 cushion. He also scored two runs.

Nokki Saralu had a perfect 4-for-4 appearance at the plate with a pair of RBI singles, a double, and one run, while Marvin Kaipat, 3-for-5, had a double and touched home plate three times. Diego Camacho went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs, and one RBI.

Leonard Sablan started for the Brewers, giving up four earned runs on seven hits while fanning two and walking one.

Falcons manager Doru Camacho used four pitchers—Benavente, Torres, Lieto, and Celis—but all of them failed to stop the Brewers bats. They gave up a combined eight earned runs on 13 hits.

In other news, SBL coordinator Tony Rogolifoi is reminding all teams that they need to play in complete uniform at the start of the second round.
