The Brewers chipped away at the one run D-9ers lead heading into the last inning and won walk-off style, 10-9, in the 2023 Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League last Friday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The D-9ers were at 8-7 by the sixth inning but the Brewers’ Jerome Delos Santos’ double and Devyn Flores’ triple salvaged two runs off their base hits for the lead, 9-8.

Only one run was made by the D-9ers for a tie 9-9 ball game in the last inning, which allowed the Brewers to capitalize as Reid Teregeyo hit the game-winning RBI single that brought home Diego Camacho, 10-9.

The D-9ers were hot at the start of the game with two early runs in the first inning by a lead off single by Isaiah Lizama, who scored on an RBI single by Ben Lizama, and who then made it a 2-0 ball game after an RBI base hit by John Benavente.

The Brewers replied as they put up three in the second for a 3-2 lead as also their Top 3 of the lineup—Flores, Verlance Secharmidal, and Franko Nakamura—scored.
The Brewers scored four more after a one run third inning and a three run fourth inning thanks to the D-9ers’ shoddy defense that allowed Flores to reach third base on a triple and Secharmidal to reach base right after.

Six runs came from the bats of the D-9ers right after as they put up a fight against Brewers pitcher Kaipo Dikito for a one run lead heading into the last couple of innings. The D-9ers could not hold on as the Brewers staged a successful comeback walk-off win in the last inning for a close game.

The Brewers are now at five wins and four losses, while the D-9ers dug deeper into the trenches at two wins and seven losses.

The games from last Wednesday (Braves vs Cardinals) and Thursday, (Natives vs Bandits) were postponed due to unplayable field conditions due to the weather.

Games will continue on Wednesday, July 5, between the Cardinals and Falcons, Thursday between Survivors and D-9ers, and Friday between the Blue Jays and Bears.
