BREAKING NEWS: CCC defers IPI casino opening

Share

The Commonwealth Casino Commission is deferring its decision on the request of Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC to open its Imperial Pacific Resort’s casino this week.

Safety concerns and parking space were some of the issues the commission raised with IPI representatives in yesterday’s meeting at the Joeten Kiyu Public Library’s videoconference room.

The commission will make its decision at their next meeting, May 31.

IPI initially eyed to open the casino on Jan. 28, the Chinese Lunar New Year. That got pushed to March but, again, this was pushed back to allow the casino floor to be finished.

The Department of Public Works issued IPI a conditional occupancy permit last week.
