Another group of Filipino construction workers staged a protest outside the Marina Heights II Building in Puerto Rico, where the U.S Department of Labor office is located.

The workers, mostly masons and plumbers, are demanding Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC to give their final paychecks after being given stop work notices last week. The workers also want the Hong Kong-based company to arrange their flights back home to the Philippines.

The more than 100 workers, which are under the H-2B program, are asking the casino-hotel developer to provide them their return tickets to the Philippines before their visas expire on Jan. 31.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has removed the Philippines from the H-2B visa program that could create problems for the said group of workers if they remain on the island after Jan. 31. More details to follow.
