BREAKING NEWS: 7.7 earthquake jolts Saipan

Many Saipan residents were awakened when a 7.7-magnitude earthquake jolted the Mariana Islands this morning at 7:18am, Saturday.

According to the U.S. Geological Service, the earthquake’s epicenter was at 316 kilometers south-southwest of Agrihan at a depth of 212.4 kilometers.

Based on available data, there is no tsunami threat.

It’s not clear yet if there are reports of injuries or damage to property.
