The Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization announced that its boys high school volleyball and baseball seasons are set to kick off this Wednesday.
All volleyball games will be held at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
Opening matchups feature the MHS Awesome Fins taking on the Kagman High School Ayuyus on the north end with the Saipan International School Geckos challenging MHS’ QTs on the south court at 4pm.
Then at 5pm the Grace Christian Academy Eagles square off against the MHS KFC Dolphins on the north court, while the Saipan Southern High School Manta Rays take on SIS on the south end.
While the official baseball grouping is still being confirmed, the opening matchups are set, which is between MHS and SSHS at 4pm on Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
MHS then clashes with KHS the following day, however, future game dates are also still being determined and will be announced with the rest of the competing teams upon confirmation.
KHS is the team to beat in both sports. The Ayuyus are looking to clinch their fourth consecutive volleyball title, in addition to being crowned back-to-back baseball champions.
KHS came into last year’s volleyball playoffs seeded second, but swept the field, capping off a two-set sweep over MHS 1 in the finals; KHS knocked off SSHS, 7-1, in last year’s baseball championship.
MISO organizers are also shooting for Oct. 22 to open its cross country series. Cross country is offered to all age groups-elementary through high school. The first event will be held at CPA Airport Field.
