WASHINGTON, D.C.—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo received yesterday the U.S. Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award. The award was presented by Secretary of the Air Force Deborah James.

The Distinguished Public Service Award was developed to recognize distinguished Americans who have made significant contributions to the Air Force and its airmen, ensuring that the U.S. Air Force continues to be the pre-eminent air, space, and cyberspace force in the world.

The DPSA is now the highest honorary award the Secretary of the Air Force or chief of staff of the Air Force may grant to a private citizen. Eligible candidates for this award are civilians, excluding Air Force employees and contractors.

“As the ranking member of the Readiness Subcommittee and a co-chair of the Congressional Air Force Caucus and the Congressional Caucus on Long Range Strike, I have been proud to support our Air Force, and all our military services, to ensure that they have the resources they need to carry out their mission here at home and abroad. The U.S. Air Force provides critical capabilities to our services during times of conflict, supports humanitarian assistance missions, and enables American power projection throughout the world, especially in the vast Asia-Pacific region. I am particularly proud to support the men and women of our Air National Guard on Guam as well as well as the men and women of the Air Force who serve at Andersen Air Force Base. They support a wide range of requirements in the Asia-Pacific region and are important members of the Air Force family. I thank Secretary James for this award, and I look forward to continue working to ensure that the U.S. Air Force remains the pre-eminent air, space, and cyber force in the world.”
