In line with its celebrity marketing strategies in South Korea, the Marianas Visitors Authority recently supported the filming of three music videos by K-pop singing group Bolbbalgan4.

Referred to as one of “Korea’s Digital Monster Artist” duos, Bolbbalgal4 is a popular singer-songwriter group with numerous hit songs. Members Ji-young Ahn and Ji-yoon Woo appeared in 2014 on Superstar K6, an audition TV program like American Idol.

“This filming project was designed to position the Marianas as one of the greatest leisure destinations for Korean travelers,” said MVA acting managing director Judy Torres. “The film team was impressed with the stunning natural aspect of our islands, which is one of the MVA’s greatest selling points in attracting film and photography projects.”

The project involved 27 people from April 17 to May1, including three artists, the two Bolbbalgan4 members and an actor. Film locations included Banzai Cliff, Bird Island Lookout, Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center (the store in Garapan), Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field, PIC Saipan, Kensington Hotel Saipan, and a local marina.

The filmed content will be used in three different music videos and teasers for Bolbbalgan4’s new album beginning on May 24. Additionally, it will also be exposed via Shofar Music and Bolbbalgan4’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and V Live), major Korean music channels (Melon, Bugs, m-net, and iTunes), and the MVA’s Korea social media channels.
